Diego López and Cristhian Mosquera close out Olympic Games group stage as starters

Diego López and Cristhian Mosquera, Valencia CF's two representatives at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, have closed out the group stage of the tournament against Egypt and have done so as leading figures.
Both players were in the starting line-up at the Bordeaux Stadium, where the Spanish team, who had already mathematically qualified for the quarter-finals after their victory over the Dominican Republic in the second group stage fixture which saw them lose 1-2 to the North African side.
The Asturian forward tried on several occasions to score the goal that could bring the Olympic team closer to first place in the group on an afternoon in which the Valencia CF defender was playing his first few minutes at the Olympic Games.
Despite the result, Diego López and Cristhian Mosquera are progressing well in the race to get a medal and are now awaiting their opponents. With all the results yet to be confirmed, the Spanish side will likely face Japan in the quarter-finals on Friday at 5 pm kick-off.
